You got it! That analogy is exactly right – you can’t help anybody in the long run if you don’t know how to take care of yourself. A healthy caregiver inspires health in the ones she cares for. The glowing therapist’s energy spills over into his clients’ lives, in ways he isn’t even aware of – I can’t tell you how much my students’ respect deepens for me when they learn what my personal care regimen is and how I would never suggest they do something that I myself am not already doing now. Lead by example!

When I attend my personal/private sessions, I often wonder who takes care of My caregiver. As I journey on a new path to help others, it becomes more and more apparent that I must first care for myself to be able to help others. Its like they say on every flight – Apply YOUR oxygen mask FIRST, then assist others.
