Too scared to say what you mean to say?

Feeling like you can't speak up about what's really weighing on your heart?

Do you keep your mouth shut because you're afraid that you'll be rejected or "look stupid" if you say what you think?

Deep down we all know that things left unsaid can slowly eat away at us. But still, we don't say anything in an effort to "keep the peace."

Are we really keeping the peace though if it's at the expense of our health? Because inner turmoil and repressed feelings certainly aren't healthy!

Watch the above video to learn how to break the silence and speak up for yourself with love and healing!

"Rock the boat! Don't rock the boat, baby. Rock the boat! Don't tip the boat over."

This week’s topic is about giving yourself the silent treatment.

Why do we do that to ourselves? What does that mean?

When we're giving our-self the silent treatment, it means we are blocking out whatever we really want to say.

Perhaps there's a situation that's come up at work or at home with a loved one or your kids or friends that you've been interacting with. You feel like you just can't talk about it or you can't speak up.

You feel like you’re out of bounds, telling yourself “well, if I say that they're going to reject me” or “they're going to criticize me,” or “they're going to get emotional and I don't want to have to deal with all that.”

Think about the situation now, as you read this. Do you feel like you can't speak up about what's really on your heart? Like you can't clear the air there?

Also, perhaps you may feel like if you do say something you're going to be singled out. And that’s the last thing you want is to be singled out as the “troublemaker” who rocked the boat or even tipped it over, right?

We tell ourselves a million and one reasons why we should give ourselves the silent treatment and we cut off expression because we believe it’s for our own good.

"It’s safer to just blend into the wallpaper." "I don't want anybody to feel like I'm making waves or that I'm getting too full of myself."

You know, in Australia my Australian friends have a name for this phenomena of giving yourself the silent treatment: it’s called the “tall poppy syndrome.”

In a beautiful field of poppies, if one grows taller, the gardener chops off her bloom because she stands out. So that means you shouldn't stand out too much, and anyone who does should be chopped down to size, to preserve status quo.

Know This: You may think you're "keeping the peace," but choosing not to speak your truth is actually a choice to do more harm than good to yourself and everyone involved. #speakup #clarity

Although "tall poppy syndrome" is meant to protect the status quo, it's actually harmful, because it's based in fear. It is really just the fear of being seen and heard.

Whenever we actively engage in or operate from fear, this is energetically -- spiritually, emotionally, mentally, physically, financially, etc. -- harmful. Yes, it actively does harm.

But, wait! There's more!

Giving yourself the silent treatment is not only the fear of being seen. On the flip side, it’s also the fear of being hurt.

Spirit says that we give ourselves the silent treatment to avoid feeling hurt, and that one way this manifests is always apologizing or back-pedaling for something that we did or said.

At the drop of a hat, we think to ourselves, “oh crap, that fell out of my mouth toward you so let me just try and do damage control.”

And so, as if you have a nervous tick, you immediately say “I didn't really mean that” or are just always saying “I'm sorry, I’m sorry” and apologizing for yourself.

Even if you didn't do anything you want to be the first one to say I'm sorry so that you can shut it down. Shut all of the energy down. Control, control, control.

So it all boils down to this: the real reason why give ourselves the silent treatment is to control our energy. But we are doing this in a dark way; it is not The Master Path for controlling our energy.

When you shut down your expression in the energy the angels are saying that it's like being at the ocean and trying to dam up the entire ocean, along the entire beach.

Can you imagine a dam running all the way down the Jersey Shore, just the entire of the state, just trying to keep it at bay and not let it ebb and flow as she needs to do?

Rather than honoring her power and natural beauty, you intuitively know that the dam is trying to control her so only a certain amount of ocean can be present at the beach. The one that comes out of this teeny little tap right here. Ha!

With this image, the angels are saying you’re making your power – which is like the ocean and infinite – very, very small.

Painfully small.

Harmfully small.

Unnaturally small.

We need to learn how to respect and honor whatever is coming through us; to respect and honor our power and our energy.

If we don't, then there are repercussions.

The same way that the ocean doesn't just disappear if you try to dam her up, is the same way that your energy doesn't just disappear if you clam yourself up -- it reroutes.

Oftentimes when we tend to shut down our own expression it manifests physically with disease and discomfort.

So, for example, do you have chronic neck and shoulder pain? Tightness of the jaw? Do you grind your teeth?

Or when you're stressed out, you crunch it together or do you tend to often want to chew on things? Like chewing on straws, pens and pencils or are you addicted to chewing gum?

Oral fixations and addictions are signs of underlying spiritual issues that have to do with expression being stifled.

If you’re addicted to smoking or drinking, don’t be judgmental, instead just notice yourself from a spiritual and energetic perspective.

Take notice of all of these physical manifestations in and around the throat, such as chronic ear infections, catching a cold every winter or even in the summer, etc. as not random events.

Put them in a spiritual context as guidance and warning signs from Spirit that something you are doing is out of alignment with Source.

And what is out of alignment is your relationship with expression: you’re afraid of your truth and allowing it to flow through you.

We're afraid to really put it out there, really allow truth -- which is Source energy -- to move through us. It's raw, it is beautiful. It's always healing, even if it is painful.

But how the heck do we start to turn this situation around then? Are there any techniques and strategies to stop giving yourself the silent treatment? YES!

You’ll have to watch the rest of this week’s video strategy to find out the exactly how!

Facebook.com/SenseiVictoriaWhitfield

Just for Today...

Call yourself out when you're clamming up or too afraid to speak up, by announcing it out loud. Yes, really! You can just announce that you're scared.

When you feel yourself shutting down, holding or pulling back, you can literally say "I have something to say but I'm afraid to speak up right now."

Notice how you feel at that moment - you're already healing!

Wish you could remember your dreams?

Ever wondered what it would be like to lucid dream, or to finally understand that recurring dream or nightmare you had?

Want to get advice from your dreams, but don't know where to start?

Dreams are powerful guides to life; they hold the key to the infinite power of your Subconscious Mind.

In fact, in Shamanic spiritual traditions, dreams are regarded as the true reality, while this waking life is the real "dream."

Watch the above video to to get started remembering and interpreting your dreams!

"I can barely remember I had this dream, and I'm not sure what it means..."

I hear this a lot during Sacred Space Sessions here at The Dojo.

As naturally intuitive and creative people, we all have vivid dreams from time to time that we "just know" have some sort of spiritual meaning or message.

Some of us have even had dreams that we found out later on were premonitions.

And still more of us don't dream at all these days, although we used to as children.

So what are dreams exactly; what purpose do they serve?

Dreams are natural energywork, through communication with Source energy.

As natural energywork, dreams serve a twofold purpose: to balance and clear our subtle (mental, emotional, spiritual) energies, and to open the lines to higher communication (with our community, our higher selves, and with Source).

What basically happens each time you sleep is that your body performs her nightly energywork on you to open your energy up to balance and Source.

She does this by shifting your brainwaves from Gamma/Beta (tight, fast and sharp waves; you are in a state of being focused and attentive) all the way down to Theta/Delta (long, slow and smooth waves; you are in a state of being creative and restorative).

It's difficult to be open to receiving energy from Nature / Source -- such as the energies of guidance and healing -- when your body is emitting very tight, sharp waves.

Therefore sleep naturally relaxes and balances your energy waves to be more open and receptive.

Dreams, however, are the next level of this energywork, because they happen only when you are "seeing" this energetic balancing happening firsthand -- well, only part of you can "see" it, and that part is the Subconscious Mind.

Your Subconscious Mind speaks in the language of images, colors and feelings (intuitive and emotional), and comprises 90% of your actual Self (your consciousness, your energy, your essence).

Since your Subconscious Mind is capable of picking up on or detecting spiritual guidance and subtle energy coming from Source, she organizes it all into her language and then relays it to your Conscious Mind -- in the form of dreams.

So your dreams are actually windows into your soul and it's connection to Spirit.

Therefore, learning to remember, interact with and interpret your dreams can be quite enlightening.

Now, there are online dream dictionaries, like dreammoods.com for example, that offer interpretations; however we must remember that these interpretations are based on the writer's own personal perception and spiritual path, not our own.

Know this: Dreams speak the language of YOUR Spirit. Are you listening? #dreamwork #healing

That being said, it is best to record your dreams and ask your spirit guides, or spiritual mentors and intuitive advisers, what your dreams mean for YOU, instead of basing your interpretation solely on what is online or in a book.

There are some general dream tropes that are universal -- clothes represent how you present yourself to the world, cars represent drive and personal agency, fighting represents repressed anger, chasing represents unexpressed anxiety, and so on.

But all the interpretations in the world won't help you, if you can't remember your own dreams! 🙂

Learning to recall the images, events and details of your dreams is a skill that can be quite easily cultivated with regular practice.

You need to build momentum recalling your dreams over time, and as you do that, you're actually "working out the muscles" of your intuition as well! #bonus

Watch this week's video for the Oracle Card of the Week, which explains why now is a good time for you to start doing dreamwork!

In Love and Light,

Facebook.com/SenseiVictoriaWhitfield

Just for Today...

Dedicate or re-dedicate a book as your dream journal and keep it under or next to your pillow.

Write on the first page at the top this affirmation: "Angels please help me. I am now open to receiving divine guidance through remembering and pursuing my dreams."

Notice how you feel at that moment - you're already healing!

Need to have a difficult conversation with someone, but you're avoiding it because you don't know where to start or what to say?

It's time for you to engage in the sacred healing practice of Journaling.

Journaling is essential for opening and balancing your Throat Chakra; it sends healing energy to improving your communication with yourself and others.

Watch the above video to explore how you can overcome any emotional block or writer's block easily right now, with journaling!

Sometimes, we need to express ourselves but have this fear of rejection, criticism or judgement that holds us back.

Or what's worse, we're so used to not speaking up that we form a mental-spiritual "block" to prevent expression.

Why does this happen? Maybe we've learned in the past that speaking our mind isn't safe or acceptable.

Or maybe over our lives we've become so accustomed to listening to and serving others that we've lost our sense of self, our needs and desires.

It's like we just can't speak up. This happens often with highly sensitive empaths and lightworkers like us.

In fact, just about every day I meet someone who says they feel "blocked" and like they can't speak up, as if something or someone is holding them back or stopping them.

And these blocks are accompanied by very real sensations in the body: feeling of lump in the throat, neck pain, tight jaw, upper back tension, etc.

Some even feel that they have a curse on them or someone is actively trying to sabotage their life.

Here's the thing: we create our own "blocks" spiritually, and reinforce them mentally.

Unconsciously, we may choose to shut down as a protective measure against uncomfortable feelings and situations, or even trauma.

But there is hope. The first step in getting "unblocked" (I keep putting quotations because I do not believe in blocks) is to take ownership of the block, actively affirming you created it.

Now why would you want to say or believe that you blocked yourself? Because if you made the "block", you can remove it.

One way to do this is through the sacred practice of journaling.

Journaling is a simple, yet very effective form of centering and grounding meditation.

In fact, journaling is a great healing practice for those who have trouble visualizing, as well as those who do not believe in god/angels/energies etc.

The reason why journaling is a sacred practice that can heal without spiritual "faith" or intuitive power is because it inspires self-reflection and self-awareness.

Know this: Write it down. Any honest thing you write down about yourself can heal you. #selfawareness #selfcare

And the magic is this: you do not have to be perfect. All you have to be is honest.

If you are mad, write it down. If you are tired, write it down. If you are impatient, write it down. Choose not to censure yourself when journaling.

This goes for writer's block, too.

One of the ways you can break through writer's block is by simply writing about how you can't write. No, really! LOL!

You see, when we have writer's block, a big part of the block we reinforce is by avoiding writing altogether as if it's useless to try in the first place. Action breeds growth.

Watch this week's video for the Oracle Card of the Week, which has an interesting twist as to WHY you have the block and who it's really about!

Just for Today...

Dedicate (or re-dedicate) a book as your journal today.

Write on the top of a page in your journal "here's how I really feel about my life right now:" and write at least 3 sentences or points about whatever comes up for you.

Notice how you feel at that moment - you're already healing!

Stressed out at work?

Feel like you are constantly putting out fires left and right?

Wish there was a way to be productive AND have more peace and calm while you're working?

Believe it or not, you are 100% responsible (and in control of) how you feel at work.

When you're stressed out, it's easy to blame your coworkers, customers or managers for how you feel, but how you feel actually is up to you, regardless of how crazypants dramatic or annoying they get.

Watch the above video to learn 3 ways to relax while at work that can be done while working -- no meditation break needed!

RELAX!! RELAX ALREADY! 🙂

Ever encounter someone just so stressed out at work that they look like an angry high-speed hamster, running from task to task furiously, as if that hamster wheel is really going to get them somewhere faster if they put the pedal to the metal?

Seeing them struggle with over-analyzing the simplest tasks is exhausting, right? How the they load up everything with unnecessary excuses, emotion and explosions...

Yeah. That someone is YOU right now.

Use your imagination for a minute or two as you read this.

Imagine that you could clone yourself, where the Clone You can observe the Regular You -- same intellect, age and everything, except the Clone You has no responsibilities and is independently wealthy (like an abundant bystander). Now, step into the Clone's point of view, and watch yourself. Really stand back and observe Regular You stressing at work.

Don't you just want to shake yourself and say "RELAX! Calm down! You're fine!" when you're on the outside looking in?

Granted, we are not all independently wealthy and responsibility-free, but the point of that visualization is to activate the part of your energy that is Free and Open, always.

It's this part of your intellect that kicks in when there is an emergency at home (someone's water broke or the house is on fire, for example) and you magically are able to detach from all the drama and drudgery at work and leap into action.

And it is this mindset, a creative and responsive mindset, you will need to embrace the simple techniques in this week's Love Letter.

Because, you can't relax at work if you don't admit that 1) you're stressed out, and 2) something needs to be done about it in the moment.

You see, the danger in being stressed out at work -- or, occupational stress, as it is officially called -- is that we both ignore it as par for the course, and accept it as if there's nothing we can do.

In spiritual truth, however, you are 100% in control of how you feel at any given moment. The same way that there's a part of your intellect (Clone You) that knows you should detach and relax, there's also the capability within you to control how you feel while at work, regardless of what's going on around you.

It comes down to a choice: will you focus on Your Health or focus on Your Job?

Now, I'm not saying you should quit your job because it stresses you out. If that's where your head went, then LOL you missed the point! 🙂

The point is this: where your awareness goes, energy flows.

So if you focus on meeting that deadline, people-pleasing, and other externally-driven things at work, then the energy will go to increasing the intensity of deadlines, people-pleasing activities and everything else.

Know this: The key that unlocks peace at work is self-awareness; not being self-conscious. Know yourself, and respond accordingly. #love #selfcare

You see, when you know yourself, you can respond to a triggering (or stress-inducing) situation strategically, because you know what you need to feel safe, centered and clear.

Yet, if you are self-conscious instead of self-aware, you will leap to please others without regard to your needs and values, as they are less important than whoever or whatever you are comparing yourself to -- comparison is the basis of negative self-consciousness, by the way.

Once you are clear on who and what triggers your stress response, then it's easier for you to regularly employ stress-reduction techniques. It's all about your mindset.

You are the only one who is really in charge of how you feel, so act like you know this, and take charge!

Most people are unconscious and unaware of this at work, so occupational stress runs their life, dictating the quality of day they have, rather than it being the other way around

Watch this week's video for the Oracle Card of the Week, which shows you how to activate your creative mind to de-stress at work!

Facebook.com/SenseiVictoriaWhitfield

Just for Today...

Watch yourself.

Try the "Clone You" visualization described in the above article, and really observe if you are responding with self-awareness to your stressors, or reacting because you are self-conscious.

Notice how you feel at that moment - you're already healing!

Stressed out at work these days?

Feeling anxiety, depressed, bored or even trapped at your desk?

Find yourself daydreaming about escaping the drudgery and drab energy of the "Mondays" or "Mid-Day Slump"?

Raise the vibration of your work space!

This week's video has easy techniques for bringing positive, healing energy to your office.

One of the biggest energy drains in life can be your work environment if you don't approach it consciously or with purpose.

Just because you're at work doesn't mean that you lose the fact that you're a spiritual, emotional and creative being. Be kind to yourself.

The truth is, we spend half our lives at work, so it's imperative that we send healing energy to the work space to keep positive energy flowing in our lives.

Now, I know it's easy to get wrapped up in staring at the computer screen all day, or drained by the drab environment. Even from a design standpoint, most offices - especially corporate office spaces - are designed for neutrality and uniformity, not really for inspiration. Drab is unfortunately considered "professional."

Here's the thing though, there are ways that you can shift the energy of your workspace, no matter how bare or boring it is! And if you work in a "nice" office or even your own home office, some of the following ideas can raise the vibration of your workspace even higher.

7 Ways to Bring More Positive Energy to Your Desk at Work:

Medium or small potted plants (bamboo plants, money trees, spider plants, etc.)

Unlit candles with positive messages (brands: shaman's dawn, crystal journey)

Playful items like bubbles, toys, or trinkets

Pictures of family, friends, and places you've been or want to travel to

Meaningful items like gifts from loved ones like crystals, drawings, sculptures, etc.

Oracle cards or decks of jokes or fun facts

Art that you created like paintings, photography or crafts

So did you notice that none of these suggestions include conventional stuff like motivational posters or stress balls or blah blah blah?

LOL! That's because it's all about bringing more of YOURSELF and what makes YOU happy to your work space.

Lastly, here's a great article from feng-shui-and-beyond.com about the layout of your desk for positive chi flow.

So here's my challenge to you:

What 2 things are you going to bring to your workspace to leave on your desk and raise the vibration of your office?

Comment below and let me know!

Share any ideas for others who need help bringing more positive energy to work.
