Today’s episode, I’m going to bring back a dear friend of mine, Andrew Mellen so that you get to know him better. He and I both were members of a business group coaching program and we noticed that now that we are no longer at the program, we have so many people that we know and love, and we miss them and would love to maintain a relationship with them.

So today, he is going to be on with me so we can get to know him better here, and I am going to be bringing other friends of ours on to the podcast in the coming weeks so that you can get to know them along with me. So, strap in, here we go!

Andrew, welcome back to the Journeypreneur Podcast.

Andrew: Thank you, it’s great to be here with everybody. Hi!

Victoria: Yeah! So, let’s get into it. Maybe this is the first time someone is meeting you. What helps, I found, is to be able to share what are the 3 things, maximum 3 things, you’re known for in your business and in your career. So, tell us.

Andrew: Ok, well for one, I am known as the most organized man in America. So, that was not a title that I gave myself. That’s something that the media called me. And so, I am happy to use it. So that’s one thing. Time management, productivity, efficiency, sustainability those are the things that I focus on in my work with both individuals as well as B2B companies like The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The New York Mets or American Express. And there’s a certain mindset that I’ve picked up along the way to keep growing my business these last 20+ years.

So, I was just getting back now from travelling for a software conference. I travel quite a bit to go networking as well as for learning more about how to better serve you, how to serve more people in my purpose as the world’s first Business Reiki Master.

One of the ways that I do that is by improving my software skills because I have an online business. And at this software conference there was a really awesome speaker named Caleb Maddix and he was sharing his story about how he got involved in online coaching in the first place, how he shifted to really being passionate about personal development for young people - as in personal development, confidence, personal growth, money mindset, business mindset, communication skills etc. for children and people who are younger than 18 years old.

It was riveting to watch Caleb on stage - who is now a teenage multimillionaire - rock the room with his years of speaking and internet marketing experience. He started as a child with a message for other kids on YouTube, and has now become quite an incredible global brand.

During his talk though, the one nugget of wisdom that she shared that hit me the hardest was how he stumbled upon something even better than passive income, as a growing, conscious entrepreneur.

So, it is summertime at the recording of this podcast episode and this is a natural time of the year for me personally to step back, unplug and really sink into more of my own personal energy; reconnecting with myself apart from all of my responsibilities, apart from my business, apart from me being a member of my family, apart from all the things that I am participating in, organizations, coaching programs and so on.

It’s really for me to unplug and reconnect with Myself - and I mean MYSELF, in capital letters. And especially during this time of the year it’s harder and harder to for me personally to be in the computer, be in the cell phone, to go live and do all of these digital things, so I am really grateful for my team supporting me in that.

And as I unplug, what helps me to get to stay in this state of reflection and review, is nature. Maybe you get your best ideas when you are going for a walk in the forest or by the oceanside, or perhaps you get the best ideas when you are petting the dog or petting the cat, or maybe while you’re gardening.

There’s something about being out in nature that really helps me personally, I’ll put it on me, to clear my energy and to really tap back into myself, my true self, I know I have to get outside.

She founded Stronger Mommy, where she creates a safe space for mothers of special needs children to come together, pool resources and lift each other up on that journey of parenthood. And we are on a roll right now.

We are talking about not pretending your grass is greener. Chantelle, take it away. What’s dropping in for you for our listeners?

Chantelle: Awesome Victoria, thank you for having me on, and yeah we’re talking about that and I was just saying that, you know I think so often, we’re looking around at the different people that are out there in our space and on social media today, obviously it’s a lot more competitive than it used to be, right?

Because we are not all standing there at the water cooler telling our favorite stories. We’re constantly posting the best versions of our lives up on social media, and so it’s easy to look at somebody else and think "oh my God their grass is so green," right?

Everybody is familiar with this saying where you think their life is perfect. Things are so nice, you know, on their side of the fence. And, I think because of that, we end up in some ways trying to paint our own grass. That starts to makes sense.

You know, we’re out there and we’re with the spray-paint can pretending our grass was just watered and it’s growing like crazy, but in reality we just spray-painted it green for the party, and that’s the picture that we are going to post.

In one of my private clients' sessions recently we discussed the awesome and unfortunate experience that we both share, he and I, of being crap magnets. Meaning, where you’re magnetizing to you - maybe this sounds familiar - you’re magnetizing to you these crappy relationships, crappy clients, crappy jobs, crappy conversations, crappy food.

You’re magnetizing to you so many crappy things that basically you could be understood as a crap magnet. And especially during mercury retrograde, crappy experiences pile on, oh my goddess, there’s always something going on.

Maybe you’re saying that quite a bit in your head - that there's always something - expecting when the next shoe is going to drop. Be kind to yourself: if that’s you, this podcast episode is for you, my friend. So, let’s get into it.

It was really powerful, the conversation that he and I had about our histories as crap magnets, especially looking at crappy relationships that we’ve had and also crappy team members that we’ve worked with and how that experience can actually affect our ability to have faith in the future and confidence in ourselves.

The title of this podcast episode is Mercury Retrograde. This is an astrological phenomenon that is an optical illusion that happens in the night sky 3-4 times a year.

And what it looks like is that from our eyes here - our vantage point here on planet earth - when you look up at the night sky, it looks like mercury is going backwards for about 3 weeks. And for those of you who follow astrology and know what’s your sign - I am a Pisces, for example, as my Sun Sign and my Rising Sign is Taurus - for those of you who follow astrology and who keep up with what’s your horoscope for the day and so on, whenever a conscious entrepreneur sees that there is Mercury Retrograde, holy cow, do we start shaking in our boots and freaking out.

It is so much fun, I have a blast watching all the different videos and reading all the different fearful reports that people have, saying stuff like "oh you know, don‘t sign any contract, don’t travel, don’t do anything during mercury retrograde, this one’s going to be tough, it’s rough, oh, my goodness."

They go on and on freaking out about Mercury Retrograde and how awful it is, and how you should hide under a rock. But actually, they're missing out on how awesome and productive it is.

It's my secret weapon for always growing my business in alignment with my unique energy.

And, right now I am in the car driving to my dear childhood friend Katheryn’s apartment in this beautiful gated community and I get to go house-sit and cat-sit her kitty Bubba for a few days while she and her mother are out taking their first vacation together in I think at least six years, she said. So, I’m really honored to get to support them and loving on each other.

And I’m also celebrating that it’s 8:33 am and I’m driving in my car and I’m NOT going to work. I am going to my friend’s gorgeous gated community to go and take care of her beautiful apartment and her beloved kitty and going to pool and to tan for a few hours, you know, just chill out.

Afterward, I have a couple of things to do later on for my business, today. So, I’m celebrating that. Things are in alignment with the type of life that I’ve always wanted to live right now, such as being free to love, being free to create, being free to enjoy my life on a day-to-day basis especially as an entrepreneur. I'm feeling good.

The title of this podcast episode is The Cure for I Can’t. So, I was just at a Mastermind, and it’s a nighttime Mastermind, and I’m on my way back home from that right now. While I was there, I had this really interesting experience that I wanted to share with you.

One of the Mastermind partners, he was sharing some of his celebrations of how in the last year he had made over $11 million in sales in one of his businesses, which caused them to buy another one. And he was just sharing how excited he was for his business, but at the same time he looked really sleepy. I mean, we were not there that late; the Mastermind only started at 7 pm, but he had just flown in from out of state and he is going to be flying out to something else the very next day. I mean, his schedule is pretty squished.

In his Mastermind focus, in particular it was work-life balance. He was telling us that the business is awesome, he is really really passionate about it from the minute he wakes up at 5 am to the minute he goes to bed. He constantly wants to work on it. Whether or not there’s something going on with his girlfriend or his daughter, his business is his number one focus... and his family time and physical exercise is going down.
